Raj govt to formulate policy on importance of girls

Gehlot said that he has asked the principal secretary (medical) to prepare the girls policy. "The policy which will set direction for future and reflect the vision of the government about girls," Gehlot said.

He was addressing a workshop organised by the medical and health department with NGO representatives to discuss issues like sex ratio, female foeticide among others.

Gehlot appreciated Aamir Khan's serial Satyamev Jayate and said that he has raised a very serious issue and everybody should take benefit from the positive campaign.

He said that the state government was pro-actively working to check female foeticide and sought support of all including the social organisation to eradicate the social evil.

He also informed that chief justice of Rajasthan has in principle given his approval to set up a fast track court and the government will forward a formal proposal today.

NGO representatives from different parts of the state attended the workshop who were asked to work effectively in their areas.

Women's empowerment, girls education were among other issues which were discussed in the workshop attended by Parliamentary Secretary Mamta Bhupesh and senior officers of the state.
