Revenue official caught accepting Rs 12.25 lakh bribe

A 'Patwari' (revenue official) here was arrested today for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 12.25 lakh from a farmer for mutation of his land, police said.

The 'patwari', Balbir Singh, was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 12.25 lakh from Rawel Singh, a farmer from Mooliwal village, for the mutation of his agricultural land, SHO Lakhwinder Singh said.



After verification of the complaint a trap was laid today and he was caught accepting the bribe, he said.

He has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, he added.
