SC, ST students receive Ambedkar Merit Awards

Students belonging to SC and ST communities who topped class X and XII examinations last year were honoured at the 'Dr Ambedkar National Merit Awards' here today.

Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar, Vijay Sampla and Ramdas Athawale also released the newly-printed version of 'Collected Works of Babasaheb Ambedkar (CWBA)' and a set of audio CDs on CWBA on the occasion.



The function was organised by Dr Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Rs 60,000 in was given as first prize while Rs 50,000 was given as second prize. The third position was awarded with Rs 40,000.

In his message to the students, the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot said that education is a very powerful tool and every child should have access to it.

He called upon the students to dedicate themselves purely to their studies so that society and the nation at large is benefited.
