Security across the state of Manipur has been tightened ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
DGP LM Khaute told PTI "for the last ten days, the state forces have taken up special measures to ensure a peaceful and violence free Independence Day celebrations across the state."
He said "security personnel are also chalking out specific strategies for maintenance of law and order in the state. The state forces are collaborating with the central forces, particularly the Army and the Assam Rifles" to prevent any unwarranted incidents during the Independence Day celebrations.
Meanwhile, frisking, patrolling, combing operations and verification processes at various localities have been enhanced as "preventive measures", said senior police officials.
