A youth allegedly attempted to sexually assault a teenaged girl in her house here, her mother today said seeking the intervention of the city police commissioner for action against the culprit. The woman in a petition submitted to Commissioner K Periahiah alleged the local police failed to take action despite she lodging a complaint soon after the incident two days ago, police said. She said her 17-year old daughter was alone at the house when the man attempted to sexually assault her. Hearing her screams, some neighbours rushed and rescued the girl even as the assailant managed to escape, the woman said in her petition. She requested the Commissioner to look into the issue and take action against the youth, police added.
