Pictures Classics has acquired the North American rights to Woody Allen's upcoming film 'Magic in the Moonlight'

Set among the high society of the south of France in the 1920s, the film stars Eileen Atkins, Colin Firth, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney, Emma Stone and Jacki Weaver.

The story revolves around an Englishman who is brought in to help unmask a possible scam, and "personal and professional complications ensue", said the Hollywood Reporter.

Allen has teamed up with his 'Blue Jasmine' producers, Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson, for 'Magic in the Moonlight' too.

Allen, 78, will be honoured with the Cecil B DeMille Award at the Golden Globes on January 12. His award will be accepted by Diane Keaton on his behalf.
