The Samajwadi Party (SP) today accused the BJP government of "suppressing the voice of discontent" and said it will observe 'august kranti diwas' tomorrow as 'desh bachao, desh banao diwas'.
As part of its programme, the SP will stage protests at all district headquarters and party chief Akhilesh Yadav will address a rally in Faizabad, a party spokesman said.
"The party will observe Kranti Diwas tomorrow as 'Desh Bachao, Desh Banao diwas' at all the district headquarters with national president Akhilesh Yadav attending a rally in Faizabad district.
"On this day, we would register our protests against the BJP, which is suppressing the voice of discontent," Party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.
'August Kranti Diwas' is day observed to remember the historic 'Quit India Movement' initiated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942.
"This BJP government is anti-people and the SP would continue to protest against its policies on issues related to farmers, youths and women and its communal politics," Chowdhury said.
