Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

today registered a case against Principal Chief Commissioner (Customs and Central Excise), Zone, Janaki Arunkumar and four others in alleged bribery in the transfers and postings of junior officials in the department.

sources said the case was registered after it received complaints of bribery in postings.

It is alleged that the officials entered in a criminal conspiracy in November 2016 and demanded bribe for favourable transfer-posting in Central Excise Department, they said.

They said it is alleged that one of the officials allegedly got appointment today from her at Palavakkam residence to deliver Rs 2 lakh of the purported bribe money.
