Tata AutoComp GY Batteries has forayed into two-wheeler battery segment in the country with the commissioning of its manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune.
Batteries, which would be marketed under the brand 'Tata Green Batteries - Velocity Plus', are suitable for most two wheeler brands of motorcycles and scooters, the company said in a statement.
Tata AutoComp GY Batteries is an equal joint venture between Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd and Japan's GS YUASA International.
The plant, which already has an installed capacity to produce 1.4 million batteries for four wheelers, would now also churn out 3.6 million units of two wheeler-batteries.
"As the Indian automotive market is evolving, automotive manufacturers have to keep pace with consumer demands by upgrading their technology while matching global standards and local conditions," Tata AutoComp Systems MD & CEO Ajay Tandon said.
