Thane police marathon next month

Press Trust of India  |  Thane

A marathon exclusively for members of police commissionerate would be held here next month.

The announcement for the run for health was made at a function yesterday to mark the two-day health check up camp for policemen at Kalyan in the district.

Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Joint Commissioner Ashutosh Dhumbre, Additional Commissioner Sharad Shelar were present at the function.

The health check up camp was organised for the serving policemen, retired police personnel and their family members. Around 2,000 people took advantage of the camp.

On the occasion, Singh said police and doctor play a similar role. Just as doctors remove sickness from the body, the police remove bad elements from the society, he said.

He urged medical associations to create awareness among the members of police force about good health.

Such medical camps will go a long way in keeping the members of the police force healthy, he hoped.
