Truck driver meets death minutes after crushing cyclist

The incident took place in Okhla at around 12:15 PM and the victims were identified as Vishnu (25), the truck driver, and Vijender (28), who was on a cycle and hit by the truck, in south-east Delhi's Okhla.

Vishnu was driving a truck loaded with construction material and rammed his vehicle into a container on Okhla flyover while trying to overtake it. He was allegedly fleeing after hitting the cyclist.

The impact of the collision of the truck and container was so severe that gas cutters were used to take the driver out from the mangled heap.

Vishnu, who was trapped inside and taken out after two hours of work by fire brigade and police, was rushed to AIIMS where he was declared brought dead.

Eyewitnesses told police that Vishnu had hit a cyclist minutes before he rammed his truck into the container.

Vijender's body was found near the collision site.

In another accident, three persons suffered minor injuries after an Audi car and Skoda collided on Bhagwan Dass road near India Gate at 2 AM.

The cars were damaged in the accident but the occupants were saved of any major injury by the air bags. A couple was traveling in the Audi while four persons were in the other car.

In another incident, a 28-year-old grocery store owner was crushed down to death when a speeding car hit him from behind in Sonia Vihar last night. The deceased has been identified as Rajeev.

Rajeev is survived by wife and two children. The driver of the car fled from the spot leaving his vehicle behind.
