The MPCC today alleged that the mastermind behind hacking of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and the party's Twitter handles was part of the ruling dispensation, adding that the incident was a result of "cyber terrorism".
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson Sachin Sawant said here, "We were sure that the political discourse will go to a low level after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The social media trolls proudly say that they are followed by the Prime Minister on Twitter."
"We are concerned that these hackers, who are educated and IT professionals, have a political backing. The mastermind is in the ruling dispensation," he said.
However, Congress will continue to raise its voice against the tendencies which are against the ethos of the country, Sawant said.
A day after the hacking of Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account, the official Twitter account of Indian National Congress was also hacked today with the party saying some messages laden with expletives and profanities were posted online.
The hacking of the Congress Vice President's Twitter account has led to twin probes by Delhi Police and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology following a complaint by the party.
