Two revenue officials booked for "defrauding" state exchequer

The duo have been identified as

Tehsildar-cum-sub-registrar Saroj Rani Aggarwal and Naib-Tehsildar cum joint sub-registrar Gurinder Singh Walia, police said here.

Both along with other staff members were accused of executing registered sale deeds by levying low stamp duty rates instead of prescribed rates by the district collector for particular areas, causing losses of revenue.

Cases of cheating and criminal conspiracy were registered against the duo, SSP Barnala Surjit Singh said.
