UN hails India, China for leadership role over climate change

The G77, established on June 15, 1964, now has 134 members including and is the largest intergovernmental organisation of developing countries in the UN.

The bloc provides the means for the countries of the South to articulate and promote their collective economic interests and enhance their joint negotiating capacity on all major international economic issues within the UN system, and promote South-South cooperation for development.
