UP Power Corp to carry out raids to check power pilferage

Chairman of UPPCL Avnish Awasthi has written a letter to managing directors of all distribution corporations and district magistrates of major cities to launch an effective drive to check power pilferage, sources said.

With the rise in mercury level there has been an unprecedented rise in power demand, and the main reason was power theft which required immediate action, Awasthi has said.

The chairman has directed that areas with higher line losses and big consumers should be identified and surprise inspection should be conducted after 8 PM with the help of district administration.

In the state capital Awasthi while referring to higher line losses in Thakurganj, Chowk, Aminabad, Residency, Aishbagh, Rajajipuram, Raheemnagar, Bakshi ka Talab, Mall and Malihabad areas he directed that extensive checking should be done.
