Uptick in demand lifts cardamom futures by 0.26%

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Cardamom prices were up by 0.26 per cent to Rs 1,396 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid upsurge in demand in the spot market.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 3.60, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 1,396 per kg in business turnover of 75 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in May contracts traded higher by Rs 2.60, or 0.19 per cent to Rs 1,387 per kg in 5 lots.

Analysts said building up of positions by participants, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
