Police have started an inquiry after a video showing some members of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) firing in air at a wedding attended by the quota agitation leader Hardik Patel went viral on social media. Hardik Kirtibhai Patel (not the quota agitation leader) filed a complaint in this regard at Viramgam police station in the district last evening. He submitted a video clip showing members of PAAS dancing and one of them, apparently drunk, firing in air from a revolver. It was the marriage of PAAS leader Hardik Patel's cousin.
Video also showed Hardik dancing on the occasion. "We are looking into a complaint seeking action against seven members of PAAS.... The marriage took place on February 2," said inspector Vishwarajsinh Jadeja. The complaint didn't name Hardik, the officer clarified, though he was seen in the video. "We will first ascertain authenticity of the video, then will find out if the gun was a licenced one and who were the persons who fired it," Jadeja said. Hardik is out on bail in two cases of sedition registered against him in Ahmedabad and Surat.
