Whitney's mother to pay tribute to daughter at BET awards

Cissy Houston, will take to the stage at the July 1 awards show to honor her daughter who died aged 48 in February, reported Access Hollywood.

"Cissy Houston will take the stage at the July 1 awards show to honor her daughter. Cissy will be joined by a few top divas," a source said.

The source spoke on condition of anonymity because the tribute has not been officially announced.

Whitney was found dead in her suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. Authorities called her death an accidental drowning, complicated by heart disease and cocaine use.

The BET Awards airs live from Los Angeles. Rapper Kanye West, Beyonce and Jay-Z are the top nominees.
