With 3 Rajya Sabha MPs, AAP strength in Parliament now 7

The (AAP) strengthened its position in today after three of its members were elected to the Rajya Sabha, taking the number of MPs of the five-year-old political outfit to seven.

Minister Kejriwal's trusted lieutenant and party leader Sanjay Singh, chartered N D Gupta and educationist Sushil Gupta received a 'Certificate of Election' from the returning officer for the polls.

Earlier in the day, authorities rejected a of Maken seeking the cancellation of N D Gupta's nomination, for allegedly holding an office of profit.

AAP's called it a "historic day" for the party which recorded a spectacular victory by bagging 67 seats in the 70-member Legislative Assembly in 2015.
