Press Trust of India  |  Chennai

"That will happen during the 12th Five Year Plan," Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) Acting Chairman and Managing Director Dr Prabhat Kumar told PTI from Japan.

Noting that the company has a huge task of making India's first fast breeder reactor at Kalpakkam, about 60 km from here, Kumar, who recently assumed office as acting CMD of BHAVINI, said the ongoing 2X500 MW PFBR project was nearing completion.

"They are in an advanced stage of completion", he said, adding they hoped to commission the project at the earliest.

Kumar said around Rs 2500 crore has been spent so far on the project, which began in 2009.

He replied in the affirmative when asked whether they have to raise funds for the additional 2x500 MW projects.

"Approximately, I will say, we will be raising funds of Rs 1000 crore", he said and added that they planned to begin construction for the two plants by 2015.
