Gold hits five-month high on rising geopolitical risks


By Sethuraman N R(Reuters) - Gold hit a five-month high on Monday as investors took refuge in safe-haven assets in the wake of rising geopolitical tensions over North Korea. Spot gold was up 0.3 percent at $1,288.50 per ounce as of 0720 GMT, after hitting its highest since early November at $1,295.42 earlier in the session.The yellow metal gave up some gains as the dollar rebounded against the yen from a five-month low of 108.11 hit earlier in the day. The dollar was last down 0.25 percent at 108.35 yen. U.S. gold futures were up 0.2 percent at $1,290.70 on Monday.North Korea on Sunday ...
