Association wants health scheme with public sector

has urged the Kerala government to entrust the implementation of , the jointly sponsored by the Centre and the Kerala government, with public sector general insurance companies.

, All India Joint Secretary of the association, said private general insurance companies would not have the required infrastructure for smoothly servicing such a large volume of insuring public. Moreover, the four public sector general insurance companies have a vast experience of 40 years in this field. Presence of offices with experienced manpower in every district is an added advantage to them. For the last 5 years, Company was successfully implementing the health insurance scheme.

During last financial year (2011-2012) United India spent Rs 252 crore for medical expense and hospitalisation of 280,1006 families against a premium income of Rs 209 crore.
