Traded Volumes Dip To Rs 457 Cr



Trading in the wholesale debt market of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) remained lacklustre yesterday. The exchange registered a turnover of Rs 457.39 crore, a decline over the previous days turnover of Rs 666.07 crore. Debe-ntures also remained passive, clocking trades worth Rs 13.65 crore.

The 12.59 per cent government security maturing in 2004 was traded actively yesterday too. The security was traded for Rs 126 crore at a weighted average yield of 11.99 per cent. The 12.5 per cent 2004 also found buyers at an yield of 11.91 per cent for Rs 44 crore. The 13.80 per cent 2004 was traded for Rs 30 crore at 11.62 per cent.

The 364-day treasury bill maturing in 1998 was traded for Rs 60 crore at a weighted yield of 7.80 per cent. The paper maturing on April 10, 1998, recorded a turnover of Rs 16 crore at an yield of 7.75 per cent. The gilt maturingoin July 3, 1998, had few buyers, as it was traded for Rs 10 crore at an yield of 8.1 per cent.

In the wholesale segment, the 16.75 per cent Tisco 2006 counter met two trades worth Rs 11.30 crore. The zero per cent Reliance Petro PPD was traded for Rs 2.27 crore, while the 12.50 per cent Reliance H 2002 collected Rs 1.16 lakh.
