Arochem Silvassa was incorporated as a private limited company in Jan.'76. It became a deemed public company in Aug.'90 and was converted into a full-fledged public limited company in Mar.'95. It was promoted by Suresh C Jain, Rakesh Jain and Yatesh Jain of the Arochem group.
The company tookover the running business of Arochem Industries in Mar.'87. Arochem Industries was engaged in the manufacture of sulphonic acid and other raw materials for detergent industries using SO3 gases. Its manufacturing facilities are located at Silvassa.
Presently, the company is engaged in the manufacture of basic raw materials for detergents and cosmetics, detergent powder, industrial grade detergents 2and speciality chemicals. It has specialised in the production of linear alkyl benzene sulphonic acid (LABSA) of 94-95% purity, with an installed capacity of 6000 tpa.
In 1995-96, the company undertook an expansion-cum-diversification project to increase th capacity of LABSA and cakes and to diversify into the production of fatty alchohol. It came out with a public issue in Feb.'96 to part-finance the project.
