Established as a 100% EOU, and promoted by Dinesh Dalmia in 1992, DSQ Software (DSQ), formerly known as Square D Software, in a short span of two years, has grown into one of the country's top ten software export houses.
DSQ received the ISO 9001 certification from KPMG Quality Registrar in Aug.'94, It has set up 100% subsidiaries in the US, the UK and Singapore, which have attracted more than 40 customers in a short time. It was chosen as a preferred vendor by AT&T-Istel for offshore jobs.
With fresh investments of Rs 15 cr in 1995-96, the company established a 64kb link with one of its US-based customers and has focussed on CAD/CAM software and Engineering Data Management (EDM), which resulted in major projects from automotive giants like Chrysler, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Ned Kar in Europe and the US. It is also focussing on telecommunications, networking and multimedia projects.
In 1998, the Software Engineering Institute of Camegie Mellon University assessed DSQ at level 4 of the Capability Maturity Model(CMM). International business partner of IBM Global Services, DSQ has tied up with Mapics Inc. and Marcam Solution Inc to provide products and solutions.
DSQ was awarded SEI CMM Level 5 certification and also PCMM Level 3 certification during 2001-02. It received a five-year, long-term contract from a major east coast-based US insurance company during the end of Jan 2001. The company will bill over US$ 100 million in five years. This is the largest contract received by the company so far.
The company has signed a MoU with Seoul-based LG-EDS (part of chaebol LG) that will enable the latter to access the world market through DSQs global marketing network and will in turn allow DSQ to use its partners knowhow and expertise to bag orders. In Oct. 2001, DSQ completed the implementation of an ERP software module at Pepsi's concentrate plant at Channo, Punjab.
