Enkay Texofood Industries Ltd. (ENKAYTEXOFOOD) - Company History

Incorporated as a private limited company in Jan.'82, Enkay Texofood Industries (formerly Enkay Synthetics), became a deemed public limited company in 1988 and was converted into a public limited company in 1992. It was promoted by Murlimanohar B Goyal and Tulsidas B Goyal of the Enkay group. The company which manufactrues texturised yarn, set up its first unit at Ankleshwar (inst. cap. : 413 tpa) in 1985. It then expanded its capacity by setting up another unit in Silvassa (inst. cap. : 560 tpa) in 1990. In Apr.'93, the company came out with a public issue to finance further expansion of the texturising capacity to 1586 tpa. Its group company Enkay Texofood Industries, a company which had diversified into fruit processing after having started its business by manufacturing yarn, was merged with the company in Jul.'94. In Jul.'95, the merged company acquired the present name. The company is setting up a subsidiary in the Netherlands to strengthen its overseas network for increasing the exports of food products and merchant exports to the European and other countries. In 1995-96 the company became the first company in India to receive the ISO 9002 certificate for its fruit processing division. The company has ventured into manufacture of fruit juice in Tetra Paks and launched India's first 100% Natural Orange Juice under the brand name 'ONJUS', which was launched in April,1997. During the year 1997-98, it increased the installed capacity of Yarn, Yarn (Dyed) and fruit juices to 10,128 nos, 1,600 Kgs and 36,354 MT.
