Eupharma Laboratories Ltd. (EUPHARMLAB) - Company History

Established in 1963 as a proprietory concern, Eupharma Laboratories (ELL) marketed formulations procured on a loan-licence basis. It was converted into a partnership firm in 1977. In 1985, the founder formed another private limited company Eupharma Laboratories Pvt Ltd which was made a partner. It was converted into a public limited company in 1994. ELL manufactures pharmaceutical formulations such as tablets, liquids, ointments, sterile dry powder injectables, liquid injectables and capsules. It also manufactures formulations catering to institutional demand. It is also among the largest suppliers of iron and folic acid tablets under the Mother and Child Welfare Schemes of the Government of India. ELL has been a government-recognised Export House since the last 12 years. About 70% of its products are exported to over 46 countries. It has signed a MoU with Connect Pharma, a UK based consultancy firm, to cover buyback arrangements for exports, market new formulations in India and gather technical know-how to manufacture bulk drugs and intermediates in India. ELL has subsidiaries in the UK, Russia and Ukraine. It is currently registered as the supplier of pharmaceuticals with the health authorities in Vietnam and Costa Rica. The company has signed an MoU with MRC Systems, UK, which designs, develops, engineers and constructs sterile environmental rooms, to form a joint venture in India to manufacture sterile environmental rooms. In June, 1999 the company as a restructuring operations has closed its Bombay unit.
