Incorporated in Hyderabad in Nov.'81 as India Rubber & Allied Products, it went public in 1992 and its name was changed to the present one. It was promoted by K K Balachandar and K K Ravendran and others. It manufactures pre-cured tread rubber, bonding gum and vulcanising solution. The company also set up franchises to supply machinery for retreading worn-out tyres. It provides technical know-how, installs machinery, and imparts training. It also undertakes mixing of rubber compounds on a job-order basis for other companies. An entirely worn-out tyre need not be scrapped. Instead, it can be retreaded, at almost one-fifth the cost of a new tyre. A pre-vulcanised sheet of rubber replaces the worn-out portion with the help of bonding gum. Pre-cured tread rubber is manufactured using the cold process technology and is ideally suited for truck and bus tyres. It is the only process for radial tyres. The company manufactures butyl tubes and butyl envelopes for which orders have been placed. The project was financed from private placement of shares. During 2000-01 the company has applied for ECB(External Commercial Borrowings) and the same is in the process. It has also suspended all its Manufacturing and Trading activities due to financial crunch.
