Southern Sea Foods (SSF), floated as a Private Limited Company in the year 1968 was converted into a Public Limited Company in 1993. SSF is well recognised in the International market for its quality products. SSF is a certified Export House and has established a chain of processing facilities at Madras, Vizag, Kakinada, Calcutta, Kochi and Palsa. It has also established a trading branch at New York to take advantage of direct marketing.
SSF is the only seafood company to have diversified into Processed Foods with a captiviting range of frozen and non-frozen food products (viz. Prawn Kabab, Mutton Kabab, Chicken Cutlet, Fish Cutlet, Burgers (all frozen) and Prawn and Fish Pickles). These products under the brand name Suzzane's and Monarach have been well received in the local markets of Madras, Kerala, Mangalore and Bombay.
SSF exports its marine products under the brand name Monarch and has a marketing tie-up with Empress International USA for exporting products produced under the latest technology, IQF. Exports are mainly to Japan, USA and Middle East. It is now spreading out into quite a few new areas. SSF is getting into Tuna fishing by converting one of the trawlers of its sister company for exports of chilled Tuna to Japan. It has also set up a Prawn Hatchery with a capacity of 40 million seedlings per annum and this greatly enhance the purchasing power of SSF for the raw materials, thus increasing exports.
SSF after its success in the local markets has now set its sights on the International market for its processed food products and is setting up a modern processed food factory at madras with a forming, breading and battering line.
