Convicted MPs & MLAs can no longer retain their seat, says SC. Do you think this landmark judgement will accelerate the process of better governance?

The Supreme Court in a landmark verdict on Wednesday ruled that a lawmaker convicted in a criminal case by any court will lose the membership of either Parliament or state Assembly the moment he or she gets convicted.While the govt is expected to appeal against this order, the debate has begun on whether this will make political parties more responsible while allocating tickets and accelerate the process of better governance.
