Do opinion polls really mould voter behaviour or is the Congress simply getting paranoid?

An opinion poll predicting a huge victory for the Aam Aadmi Party in the forthcoming Assembly elections seems to have got the goat of the ruling Congress party in the NCR. While some sections of the party have pooh-poohed the results of the survey, others have cried hoarse in calling for a ban on all such polls on the eve of elections. What is your take? Do opinion polls really influence the way you cast your vote, and are therefore to be taken seriously, in which case a call for a ban on them is justified? Or is the Congress simply getting paranoid about the possibility of some truth in the prediction?
