| 'Gossip mongers less productive' |

Gossip mongers are less productive at work, says a new survey by staffing company TeamLease Services. The survey, ‘Personal attributes affecting workplace productivity’, was taken across cities in India, enlisting various personal attributes in this regard and how employees feel about these.
“While we were aware to some extent that appearance, marital status, relationship with colleagues, gossip mongering, do affect productivity in some or the other way, the study sheds light on some other lesser known aspects, too. The varying degrees in which these attributes affect workplace productivity, as estimated by the respondents, also seem interesting.
Today’s workplace environment is undergoing a constant change and it is important for companies and employees alike to adapt fast,” said Sangeeta Lala, vice president, Teamlease Servcies. Around 80 per cent of respondents believe the level of salary in relation to experience affects workplace productivity and money continues to rank as top priority for Generation Y. Around 67 per cent said their spouse’s attitude towards their career and relationship with other people at work affected their productivity. Most of the respondents in Hyderabad believed relationship-based attributes affect productivity. However, only a fourth of those in Mumbai and Pune agreed.
