A District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) personnel was killed and four policemen were injured in the violence sparked by opposition to the acquisition of land for an SEZ here.
The DIB personnel was attacked and killed by villagers at Ishwardehajalpai in Bhowanipore block when he visited a spot where some people were digging up the road to prevent police from entering the area, Home Secretary P R Roy said.
Four policemen suffered serious injuries in brickbatting by villagers when they tried to stop people from digging up roads leading to the village, IGP (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia said in Kolkata.
