A total of 2,800 aspirants have so far submitted applications to the Congress party, seeking tickets to contest the May assembly elections in
Karnataka, state unit President M Mallikarjun Kharge said here today.
The clection committee of the party would meet here to short-list candidates and there after, the panel of names would be sent to the party high command for approval, he said.
Karnataka has 224 assembly segments and is the first state to face election after effecting the delimitation of constituencies. The polls are scheduled to be held between May 10 and 22.
