3i Infotech wins global recognition for democratic practices
BS Reporter / Mumbai Apr 14, 2010, 15:21 IST

3i Infotech, a global information technology company, has become one of only three companies from India and 44 worldwide, (including USA, UK and India) to win the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces 2010 Award. WorldBlu is an Austin, US-based company specialising in organisational democracy and freedom-centered leadership. 3i Infotech qualified for this recognition after its employees completed a survey, evaluating the organization’s practice of ten democratic principles, such as transparency, dialogue, listening, integrity and accountability.

Commenting on this achievement V Srinivasan, managing director and chief executive officer, 3i Infotech said,  “At 3i Infotech, we are not only committed to offering the best breed of IT Solutions, but also believe in democratic values that empower people.” He further added, “With democracy in the workplace you can generate a lot of ideas on revenue improvement, cost reduction and various other aspects of business. You can also make people take ownership of the vision and goals of the company, which is very important for its sustained growth.”

“3i Infotech’s workplace values promote autonomy and the same is reflected in the growth and development of the company, which has expanded at over 45% since its inception in 1999,” said Traci Fenton, founder & CEO of WorldBlu. “Democratic companies like 3i Infotech model how giving power to their people, especially during challenging economic times, can increase innovation and also boost the bottom-line.”

Democratic organisations operate on the principles of freedom rather than fear and control. They understand that the future of business is less about pomp and more about participation, and about being flat, in order to be competitive in this new, democratic age.
