Aarogyasri, the health insurance scheme being implemented in Andhra Pradesh, will soon get intellectual property rights (IPR) for the online workflow developed by the Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust.
The scheme is aimed at poor and low-income group and at specified categories like journalists.
Apprising chief minister K Rosaiah of the progress made so far, Aarogyasri minister P Satyanarayana and trust chief executive officer A Babu said on Sunday that the trust had formally applied for the IPR and was likely to get it at anytime. Once the trust gets the IPR, it can hire or transfer the online copyright of the scheme to any healthcare insurance organisation, states or nation on a cost basis.
It may be recalled that at the latest board meeting, it was decided to charge consultation fee for various services provided by the trust to other agencies and states. It was also decided to facilitate collection of donations from philanthropic individuals or organisations online through web portal and collect application fee from hospitals requesting for empanelment.
While appreciating the trust for saving 450,000 lives and successfully conducting surgeries at a cost of Rs 1,361.52 crore, the chief minister emphasised the need for improving the performance of government hospitals under the scheme.
The trust CEO informed Rosaiah that a team of 20 top executives of the National Health Scheme from London had studied the scheme in detail.
So far, teams from 20 states have shown interest in the scheme. States like Karnataka and Delhi have sought official consultancy and website rights on the scheme, according to a press release.
