ABG Shipyard, Emami, Birla & 3i Infotech Q1 result

ABG Shipyard net flat

Ship building major ABG Shipyard posted a flat growth in its net profit at Rs 47.02 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, compared with Rs 47.01 crore it posted in the corresponding quarter in the previous financial year. Its net sales went up by over 11 per cent at Rs 303.11 crore in Q1FY10, compared with Rs 272.24 crore it posted earlier.

Emami PAT up 35%

Emami Ltd has posted a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 14.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, up by 35.1 per cent on the back of growth in sales of its established brands. Net sales for the quarter was at Rs 187.1 crore, up 48.6 per cent. The company’s international business grew 21 per cent to Rs 18 crore, with the growth coming mainly from West Asia and Africa.

Birla PAT up 69%

Birla Corporation Ltd, the flagship company of the M P Birla Group, has achieved the highest ever quarterly profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 155.34 crore in the first quarter of the financial year, up 69 per cent over the corresponding quarter last year, on the back of higher realisation in the cement business. Net sales was up by 17.9 per cent to Rs 541.18 crore.

3i Infotech net profit up 56%

Mid-cap IT firm 3i Infotech posted a net profit of Rs 90.8 crore in the first quarter this fiscal year, 56 per cent higher than the Rs 58.1 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year. Revenue of the company grew 27.6 per cent to touch Rs 597.7 crore from Rs 468.4 crore. The company plans to raise Rs 500 crore through qualified institutional placements (QIPs).
