Adani Group-promoted edible oil manufacturing company, Adani Wilmar, has plans to double its refining capacity along with enhancing its oilseed crushing capacity over the next three years, a top company official said.
"We plan to double our refining capacity to 10,000 tonnes per day (tpd) and oilseed crushing capacity to 7,000 tpd," Adani Wilmar Limited's Managing Director, Pranav Adani, told reporters during the launch of a new range of edible oil products here today.
The company presently has a crushing capacity of 6,000 tpd and refining capacity of 5,000 tpd from three port-based facilities and seven crushing units with attached refineries.
Adani Wilmar, a 50:50 joint venture between the Adani Group and Wilmar International of Singapore, is a leading manufacturer and marketer of edible oils in the country.
The refining capacity enhancement was aimed at meeting the edible oils demand in the country, Adani said, adding that "demand for edible oils has not been affected by the economic slowdown."
"Cheaper edible oils are preferred in rural areas which seem to be growing more than urban areas. It is estimated that only about 45 per cent of the edible oils supplied in the country comes packed while the remaining are sold loose," he said.
