Adani's Mundra plant to begin power generation by April-end
Press Trust of India / Ahmedabad Mar 29, 2009, 18:35 IST

Adani group's first power plant at Mundra in Gujarat is likely to start power generation by the end of April 2009, a top official of the group has said.

"The first turbine of 330 Mw in Mundra power plant has already been commissioned, as its boiler was ignited three days back and now power generation will begin after a month," the official told PTI.

The Mundra power plant has a capacity of 4,630 Mw, consisting four turbines of 330 Mw each and five turbines of 660 Mw each, he said. The Rs 19,106-crore project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2011.

"We have planned to commission one turbine in every quarter. By March 2010, all the four turbines of 330 Mw each will be commissioned and by June 2010, the first turbine of 660 Mw will be commissioned," he said, adding that this is for the first time a mega power plant has been conceived and commissioned within 27 months.

It may be noted that the Mundra Power plant, where Adani group is already developing India's one of the largest SEZ and the country's largest private sector port, is the first venture of the group in power generation.

Adani group, a leader in international trading and infrastructure development, has made forays into various sectors, including power, energy and logistics.
