Aditya Birla Nuvo Q2 net profit at Rs 1.44 cr

Diversified conglomerate Aditya Birla Nuvo today reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1.44 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, while it had a net loss of Rs 104.6 crore in the same period last year. 

The figures are not comparable since "there have been acquisitions ,disposals, stake changes, mergers, de-mergers in subsidiaries and joint ventures of the company," Aditya Birla Nuvo said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Total income stood at Rs 4,952.92 crore in the July-September quarter, however, it had a total income of Rs 3,669.73 crore in the same period previous fiscal, Aditya Birla Nuvo said in a filing to the BSE.

The Aditya Birla Group is active in textiles and apparel, carbon black, fertilizers, insulators, mobile telephony and financial services.

On standalone basis, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 59.24 crore in the quarter ended September 30, however, it had a net profit of Rs 65.31 crore in the same period previous fiscal. 

Shares of  Aditya Birla Nuvo were trading at Rs 787 on the BSE, down 5.20 per cent from previous close.
