Alstom led consortium bags Rs 563 cr contract from BMRCL

Alstom Projects, rail transportation equipment and services provider, today said it has bagged Rs 563.4 crore contract in consortium with global players for providing signalling system to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL).     

The consortium, led by Alstom Projects India has signed a contract worth Rs 91 million euro (Rs 563.4 crore), of which Alstom's consolidated share stands at around Rs 354.7 crore.

Besides, Alstom Projects India, the consortium includes Alstom Transport SA, Thales Security Solutions & Services and Sumitomo Corporation.     

The order entails supply of the signalling system to BMRCL for the first two lines of the new Bangalore metro system, a company release said.     

"This new contract reinforces Alstom’s leadership in urban transit signalling in India having executed the signalling on Delhi Metro," Alstom Transport India Managing Director Jojo Alexander said.     

The contract will involve Alstom units located both in India and Europe, mainly Bangalore, Coimbatore, St Ouen , Villeurbanne and Bologna, the filing said.     

The contract includes manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of modern Signalling and Telecommunication systems for two corridor lines of Bangalore metro system.     

Both the lines of BMRCL would enter into revenue services in September 2012.
