An hour of power cut in the state will record Chhattisgarh's concern to mitigate the negative impacts of global warming.
Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh has appealed people in the state to switch off bulbs and electric appliances in their houses and business establishments for an hour on March 27 to mark the Global Warming Day.
The campaign will be part of the initiatives taken by the Global warming activists, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), calling for the Earth Hour from 8.30 pm on March 27. The Earth Hour, which began in 2007, calls for people to plunge the world into darkness and spread the word about Global Warming.
"If people take the initiative and put out bulbs and electric appliances for an hour every year, it will not only save electricity but will also help mitigate the impacts of World's biggest environmental concern," Singh said in his statement.
In his appeal, the Singh said that global warming was emerging as a big challenge. Global warming has put lives of human beings and animals on threat, Singh said, adding that people should join hands to fight negative impacts of global warming.
