Mumbai-based Tricom India, a non-voice Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) major, is planning to set up its facility in Nashik.
The centre is expected to be set up by 2007 and will hire for 1,500 people. However, company officials did not divulge financial details about the proposed facility.
Tricom currently operates across two facilities in Mumbai, and the company took the decision to set up its BPO unit in Nashik at its annual meeting that was held recently.
Tricom India is a non-voice BPO service provider specialising in document management and data capturing. It has presence in the US and India and caters to customers from the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia.
Pune is already touching saturation point and many IT and BPO companies are reportedly planning to set up their units at Nashik due to availability of adequate land with low prices compared to Mumbai and Pune.
Adequate power, abundant water and pleasant climate are also helping Nashik over its neighbouring counterparts.
