Virtusa Corporation, a software development and IT services firm, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to acquire land for setting up a campus in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The company had last month announced that it would be investing $20 million in its Indian operations, spread over Chennai and Hyderabad, over the next one year. The company did not divulge specific investment details on the Hyderabad campus.
The campus, which would house an advanced technology centre for Virtusa, would be developed on approximately seven acres of land on the city outskirts in Hitech City. Virtusa intends to commence construction in 2005.
Elaborating on the plans, CEO Kris Canekeratne said: “The decision to set up Virtusa’s first campus in Hyderabad reinforces our commitment to the city. India has always played a major role in Virtusa’s growth plans. The new campus will include offices, cafeteria, gym and other modern facilities for employees. It will be similar to Virtusa’s existing global centres, offering the best-in-class technologists and engineers, comfortable working environment needed for optimum performance.”
