Apollo looks to go the 'mobile' way
T E Narasimhan & Arindam Bhattacharjee / Chennai Jul 28, 2010, 00:36 IST

Apollo Hospital Enterprises Ltd is planning to join hands with the country’s leading telecom service providers to launch mobile health services, with Aircel having already offered 200 spots for immediate kick off.

Speaking to Business Standard, Pratap C Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals, said that as part of increasing the penetration of medical services, the hospital was planning to offer health management through mobile.

“While Aircel is ready with 200 spots to commence the service immediately, we are talking to other service providers including Idea and Airtel. Each company wants to be an exclusive partner, whereas we have said only one product can be offered to each service provider,” Reddy said.

Apollo Hospitals is planning to invest around Rs 50 crore more for setting up infrastructure in the hospital and on advertisements. Reddy said, “We met the UIDAI representatives a couple of times and made presentations but nothing happened so far.”

Earlier, Apollo Hospitals had written to the UIDAI and to the Knowledge Commission to link the UID number with health profiles of those provided the ID number, and offered to manage the health records.
