Arunachal Pradesh is all set to showcase its rich tourism potential by hosting the 5-day Siang River Festival from January 11.
The festival, which will be celebrated for the 4th consecutive time, will be held at Aalo in West Siang district, at the confluence of Sipu and Yomgo rivers.
The Siang River Festival aims at promoting tourism, culture and tradition, handloom and handicrafts of the district. The festival has its genesis from river Siang from which the name of West Siang district originated.
The festival is expected to witness various events ranging from culture to sports to river rafting. It will house several stalls which would showcase the indigenous handicrafts, handloom and food.
“All arrangements have been taken up for safety and comfortable stay of the visitors. The district administration invites one and all to come, enjoy, share and experience the mega event,” said Amjad Tak, deputy commissioner, West Siang district. The mighty river Siang, known as Tsangpo in Tibet and Brahmaputra in Assam, enters the Indian territory near Tuting in the Upper Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh and flows through East Siang District towards Assam and finally drains into the Bay of Bengal crisscrossing Bangladesh.
