Asian markets gain; Nikkei bucks trend

Asian markets ended in the green today.

Japan's Nikkei, however, slipped 130 points (1.4%) to 9,291 on a rising Yen. The Hang Seng added 70 points to 17,791.

The Taiwan Weighted gained 80 points (1%) at 6,748. The Straits Times moved up 50 points (2.2%) to 2,310. The Shanghai Composite advanced 42 points (1.3%) to 3,123.

The Seoul Composite ended flat at 1,431.

Asian markets are mostly up today.

Japanese stocks dropped today, as the Yen soared to a five-month high against the $ overnight. The Nikkei has shed 86 points to 9,335. The Hang Seng has slipped 103 points to 17,618.

The Taiwan Weighted has added 109 points (1.6%) to 6,777. The Straits Times has moved up 27 points (1.2%) to 2,287.

The Shanghai Composite and the Seoul Composite are flat at 3,084 and 1,434, respectively.

The Hang Seng has slipped 173 points to 17,547.

The Nikkei has dropped 50 points to 9,371.

The Shanghai Composite is down seven points at 3,073.

The Straits Times has advanced 24 points (1%)  to 2,283 and the Taiwan Weighted Index has gained 106 points (1.5%) to 6,774.

The Seoul Composite is flat at 1,431.
