Asian markets end firm ; Nikkei up 2%

The Hang Seng advanced 339 points(1.6%) to 20,573. The Nikkei soared 192 points (2%) to 10,357.

The Shanghai Composite increased 91 points (3%) to 3,41.

The Seoul Composite moved up 22 points (1.5%) to 1,557. Taiwan Weighted index has added 51 points at 7,078.

The Straits Times was marginally up at 2,641.

Asian markets hit its 11-month high today, as better-than-expected earnings of companies from Japan and U.S. reinforced hopes of stronger global growth.

The Hang Seng has rallied 358 points to 20,592. The Nikkei has surged 160 points to its 10-month high to 10,326.

The Shanghai Composite and the Taiwan Weighted have gained 58 points and 50 points to 3,379 and 7,078, respectively.

The Straits Times and the Seoul Composite have advanced 14 points and 17 points to 2,650 and 1,552, respectively.

Asian markets are all up this morning.

Japan's Nikkei has soared to its 10-month high on strong earnings reported by major corporates, including a lesser-than-expected loss of Sony Corp. The Nikkei has surged 140 points (1.5%) to 10,305. The Hang Seng has rallied 381 points (2%) to 20,615.

The Taiwan Weighted has added 88 points (1.2%) to 7,115. The Shanghai Composite has moved up 25 points to 3,346.

The Straits Times and the Seoul Composite have advanced nearly 1% each to 2,653 and 1,547, respectively.
