Asian markets gain on global cues

Asian markets extended gains and ended in the green on strong cues from global markets.

The Hang Seng surged 450 points (2.2%) to 20,722. The Nikkei jumped 33 points to 10,404.

The Shanghai Composite rallied 69 points (2.3%) to 3,004.  The Taiwan Weighted gained 118 points (1.5%) to 7,547.

The Straits Times was up 46 points (1.7%) at 2,767. The Seoul Composite added 19 points (1.2%) to 1,615.

The Asian markets have extended gains. The Hang Seng  has increased 261 points or 1% to 20,533. The Nikkei is up 47 points or 0.5% at 10,419.

The Shanghai Composite Index has added 23 points or around 1% to 2,957.

The Taiwan Weighted Index has increased 102 points or 1% to 7,531. The Straits Times and the Seoul Composite indices are firm, up 1% each.

Asian markets have opened strong in line with their US counterparts.

The Hang Seng has rallied 118 points to 20,390 and the Nikkei has added 29 points to 10,400.

The Straits Times has gained 19 points at 2,740, Taiwan Weighted has added 27 points to 7,456 and Seoul Composite is up 17 points at 1,613.

The Shanghai Composite has, however, shed 20 points at 2,914.
