Asian markets end in red ahead of Obama speech

Asian markets ended in the red today.

The Hang Seng dropped 81 points to 18,085. The Nikkei added 87 points (1%) to 9,841.

The Taiwan Weighted slipped 25 points to 6,195. The Straits Times dropped 20 points (1%) to 2,268. The Seoul Composite was flat at 1,391.

The Shanghai Composite added 34 points (1%) to 2,810.

Asian markets are trading in red today, as investors are cautious before US President Barack Obama speech tonight on new financial regulations.

The Hang Seng has slumped 240 points (1.3%) to 17,926. The Nikkei, however, has added 48 points to 9,800.

The Taiwan Weighted has dropped 27 points to 6,193. The Straits Times has shed 21 points (1%) to 2,267. The Seoul Composite has slipped 11 points to 1,389.

The Shanghai Composite is flat at 2,771.

Most of the markets in Asia have opened in red today as there were doubts about the revival of the global economy.

The Hang Seng has plunged 267 points (1.4%) to 17,898. The Nikkei has added 39 points to 9,792.

The Shanghai Composite is down 21 points at 2,755.

The Straits Times has declined 27 points to 2,261 and the Seoul Composite is flat at 1,391.

The Taiwan Weighted Index on the other hand has gained 65 points at 6,286.
